Normal Distribution
1. |
In order to begin to calculate the normal distribution you should, from the main calculation page of your calculator, press the '2ND' button and then press the 'VARS' button with the second function (the blue text above the button) 'DISTR'. Once you do this, it should bring up the screen shown to the right.

The next thing that you should do is navigate down to the second option in the displayed list, 'normalcdf', using the down arrow button on your calculator and then pressing enter once the second option in the list is selector or by simply pressing the '2' button on your calculator. Once you have done this, you should see the screen shown to the right.

Next you need to put in the lower or upper limits of the values that you are calculating between. If it is simply a 'below/ above a certain number' question simply put a really high number in the relevant lower or upper section, I usually use 10000 or -10000. You should then input the mean and standard deviation that you have been given into their relevant places (μ= mean and σ= standard deviation). For the cases of this tutorial, I will use 3 as my lower, 5 as my upper, my mean will be 4 and my standard deviation will be 2 (all of these values should be given to you in the question you are attempting to solve). You can see how I have entered the values into my calculator to the right.
